The Sportsbook and Fantasy company gets MJ as new special advisor plus a deal with the Cubs
DraftKings Sportsbook and Michael Jordan have joined forces as Jordan will become a special advisor to the top online sports betting and fantasy company. Multiple sources are reporting that Jordan will advise on strategy and new initiatives for DraftKings Sportsbook.
Jordan is not only the greatest NBA Player of all time, he is just as successful when it comes to marketing. This moves shows that DK is ready to make a huge splash as sports betting becomes legal in more US states.
Shares of DraftKings Stock were already up more than 250% this year, and surely having MJ on the team will send prices up further. But, will Jordan really have an active role and major influence at DK? DK Co-Founder Matt Kalish has been clear that the company intends to lean on Jordan as much as possible. However, there will be some to-be-announced restrictions on MJ’s new gig due to his ownership and role as chairman of the NBA Charlotte Hornets.
Amazingly, Michael Jordan wasn’t the only Chicago legend to get in bed with DraftKings this week.
On Thursday, DK announced a new partnership with the Chicago Cubs. The deal makes DraftKings the official daily fantasy and sports betting partner.Plus, a new state of the art sports book could be coming to Wrigley Field. That is, if the city of Chicago plays ball. Currently, DraftKings has one retail sportsbook in the state of Illinois, at Casino Queen in East St Lous.
DraftKings branding will likely be coming to Wrigley Field as well. This is typically the case when sportsbooks and pro sports teams do deals.
Other teams and leagues already partnered with DraftKings include; the NFL, PGA, MLB, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, Indiana Pacers and more.
